E.P. Wine Inc. is a multi-generational propane company spanning a course of over 85 years. Edward Paul Wine along with his wife Verna Wine started the company in 1927 selling oil out of their home basement. The company began in the oil business but soon switched to selling efficient, clean propane energy to Central Massachusetts in 1947. Edward believed propane was the fuel of the modern age and made the company slogan “Go modern go gas”.

Edwards son Richard P. Wine Sr. followed his parents into the company full time right after high school and took over as C.E.O. in 1981. For many years he led E.P. Wine successfully with hard work, and dedication. Richard Sr. was never afraid to get his hands dirty and expanded the family business while also teaching his son Richard Wine Jr. everything he knew about the company.

Richard P. Wine Jr. or Rick Wine officially joined the company in 1981 upon graduating Thomas Collage with a BA in accounting from Waterville ME. He is third generation and became the current President in 1991 following his father’s sudden death. Rick Wine has proudly led E.P. Wine into the 21st century. Since taking over the company Rick has grown E.P. Wine to serve over 5000 propane customers in Central Massachusetts and continues the tradition of valuing the customers first.

Great grandson Ryan R. Wine is alicensed Journeyman Gasfitter, and a college graduate from Merrimack College with a degree in Business Management. Ryan enjoys learning the propane business from the bottom up, under his father’s tutelage just as Richard Sr. and Rick had done before him.

Between the generations there is 88 years of propane sales and service under the Wine family name. The future is yet to be conquered, rest assured E.P. Wine, Inc. will be there for many years to come to keep the families of Central Massachusetts warm.
